History - Forestry Wine

Since the Middle Ages, the southern slope of the mountain was used for growing grapes for wine production.
The Mediterranean climate of the Saale Valley supported the viticulture at a major economic level. As of the 17th century, political, economic and climate changes led to a decline in production.

The artificially constructed terraces can still be found today.
