History - trading route

A so-called "Green Street" ran over the top of the hills. This important trading route met in Kahla with the old commercial roads, which passed through the Saale Valley.

In the 18th century it became known as the Gothic street, due to the fact that it was a connection road to the Castle Friedensstein in Gotha.
The town of Kahla also belonged to the Dukes of Sachsen-Gotha-Altenburg.
