Today, April 13, 2020, is a very important day for us as an association.
Historically, the “REIMAHG” camps on the western side of the Saale, a day later on the eastern side of the Saale, were liberated by the advancing units of the 89th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army.
Much of our archives refer to related documents, including very detailed reports from US archives, which describe, document and experience this day, which is important for all people in the Kahla region, who lived at the time.
Due to the special current situation, we have nevertheless commemorated at many of the memorial stones and memorials with a wreath laying for the victims of the “REIMAHG” as well as the fallen soldiers of the 89th Infantry Division. Wreath-laying was also carried out on behalf of Belgian relatives and the Belgian embassy.
