Today, with the most beautiful sunny autumn weather, our association excursion led back to a piece of GDR history.
The morning meeting point was Kahla, from where we went over country roads into the Thuringian Forest. Our destination was Frauenwald and here, at the former MfS (Ministry for State Security) bunker, we were warmly welcomed.
The program included a three-hour guided tour of the underground MfS facility built in 1973-75.
Professionally competent and with a lot of knowledge, we were guided through this special story, explained to us the working method, special features and functioning of the system. At the end of the tour we all agreed, the visit was definitely worth it and everyone learned something historical again.
In bright warm sunshine, we then enjoyed our ordered sausages, drinks and delicious apple strudel during table discussions. For all of them it was unanimously an unforgettable excursion.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our hosts in Frauenwald again and hope that they will soon be able to accept our invitation to come to Kahla for a guided tour.
