In the park of the Neues Jagdschloss Castle in Hummelshain (Saale-Holzland district), the last three of a total of 5 barracks are now being demolished. The massive building of the former boys’ boarding school from the time of the Jugendwerkhof (1947-1992) will also make way for renaturalization.
The former sick barracks were built for forced laborers in the winter of 1944/45 near the castle that served as the REIMAHG factory hospital. During their time as a Jugendwerkhof (youth work courts), they continued to be used as learning- and workshops.
