Although there are hardly any contemporary witnesses left, there is still great interest in their history. Planned for a long time, we were able to welcome Jean and Carine from Belgium on Wednesday, October 18th. They were in Kahla for the first time and were looking for traces of Andre, Jean’s father, who was formerly housed as a forced laborer in the camp Lager E. We showed and explained to them all the locations, such as the castle in Hummelshain, the Kahla cemetery and the Rosengarten, the first REIMAHG camp.
The visit to Lager E was particularly emotional for her. As an association, we were particularly happy about the many original documents from Andre that the family had brought us. They tell Andre’s story in great detail using some unknown documents. The day ended in the Rosengarten with conversations and a delicious dinner, to which the family had invited us.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Kahla next year in May.
