The Thuringian Association of the Persecuted of the Nazi Regime celebrated on 8. October 2022 its 75th anniversary.
We received an invitation, which we gladly accepted, to participate in the ceremony at the Buchenwald Memorial.
The festive event was opened by Mrs. Kati Engel, the chairwoman of the association. Speakers included Prof. Dr. Wagner, Foundation Director of the Buchenwald Memorial, the Secretary General of the International Federation of Resistance Fighters and other guests. The summary of the 75 years was documented by two PowerPoint presentations.
With music, presentation of honorary certificates to members for their many years of meritorious work, followed by the Buchenwaldlied, written and set to music in 1938 by Fritz Löhner-Beda and Hermann Leopoldi, former prisoners of the Buchenwald concentration camp, the event was concluded with dignity.
